Karen Agnethe ‘Agnes’ Winther
On September 6, 2016, with family and McCormick Home care givers by her side, in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Jorgen (who passed in 2011, also on September 6th) for 71 years. Dear Mother of Peggy (Brian) Bates, Benny (Helen), Kurt (Jytte), Sonja (Ron) Pretty, and Britta (Glenn) Jones. Sadly missed by 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Born in Denmark, Agnes immigrated to Canada with her family in 1957. She became a proud Canadian, always grateful for her good life in Canada and many warm winters in Florida. Agnes was a strong, determined woman with a big heart and always full of energy until the very end. She was one of the few residents at McCormick Home who did not nap after lunch but spent her time cruising the halls in her wheel chair—keeping the staff and her family on their toes!
The family is very grateful to all the staff and volunteers of the McCormick Home for the exceptional care that Agnes received for 4 years. In particular, the compassion and caring demonstrated this past week is beyond words and will always be remembered. The staff at McCormick are just an amazing team of gifted individuals. A very sincere thank you to Dr. Tai and medical care team. Special thanks to Funda Yalcin and the entire team in Willow Ridge. A heartfelt thank you to Rob Campbell and the Life Enrichment Team who provided endless activities, support and comfort on a daily basis.
Those wishing to make a donation in Agnes’s memory are asked to consider the McCormick Care Foundation.
