Robert Peltola

On Wednesday September 14, 2022, Robert Peltola of Woodstock, Ontario, at the age of 84, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Sakura House Hospice in Woodstock, Ontario.
Dear husband of Diane (nee Matthewman), father of Brent (Ramona) and Dale (Michele), grandfather of William and Katherine and honorary grandfather to Johnny, Jillian, Rhys, Cole, Jade and so many others in the family.
Robert was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. Robert worked as an electrician, was a private pilot, could fix or build anything and was always available with a helping hand.
The name Robert means shining with glory. Our Robert always shone but never sought the glory. His satisfaction came from a job well done and we are all better off for the example he showed us.
The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Team and all the Staff and Volunteers at Sakura House Hospice for their dedication and caring for Robert and the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Sudbury, Ontario on October 22, 2022.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Sakura House Hospice.
Wareing Cremation Services, 225 Norwich Ave., Woodstock have been entrusted with Final Arrangements. Your messages of remembrance and condolence may be shared here at

  • I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Diane, Brent, Dale and families. Robert was a very dear friend. I will truly miss his sense of humour, the amount of love he expressed for others and the “jigidi” puzzles. Rest in peace!

  • Robert was such a pleasant personality. As you say, he didn’t try to steal the limelight, but he was such a congenial person, always dedicated to helping Family. I will always remember when Diane started to date Robert; everything changed; all of a sudden she was like a shining light, so confident and proud. It was apparent to all that they were devoted to each other and then to their children for life. No doubt you had hills and valleys, everyone does, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who so admired your strong, rock-solid relationship. Take care of yourself Diane, Robert would want that.
