Richard ‘Rick’ Allen Fries
1945 – 2023
With his family by his side Rick Fries of Woodstock, Ontario passed away peacefully on Thursday July 20, 2023 at VON Sakura House in Woodstock, Ontario.
Rick will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Verna (Vance) Fries and his children Shiela Fries-Christie (Chris), Jennifer Richard (Rene), and Jason Fries (Andrea). Dear Papa of Alyssa (Mike), Reilie, Seth, Adrian (Jessa), Brayden, and Jayda. His two great grandsons, Hudson and Walker, idolized him.
Rick is survived by his siblings, Robert, Don (Crystal), Ken (Wendy), Elaine, and Betty. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Grace Fries, his sister Marlene Davidson and brother Jimmy Fries.
Rick worked at Thomas Built Buses for 36 years and at Nature Transport for 5 years before retiring and enjoying time spent at the trailer. Rick loved to go fishing, riding his Harley as well as spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Wareing Cremation Services, 225 Norwich Ave., Woodstock have been entrusted with Final Arrangements.
Many thanks to the Nurses and Staff at Woodstock Hospital, Palliative Care, and Sakura House. Donations in memory of Rick can be made to VON Sakura House, Woodstock or the Woodstock Hospital Foundation.

We were so sorry to hear of Rick’s passing. We remember many great times in years gone by at WOBI parties and when he and Tom coached ball together.
Cherish your memories Verna and although Rick is not here with you remember that he is “only a thought away”.

My sincere sympathy at Rick’s passing. I did not know Rick but our families are joined by the same thread we both had loved ones die needlessly. Someday we will get satisfaction knowing your sister Marlene and my sister Dianne will not have died in vain. RIP Rick!!
