Real J. Gaulin

Réal Joseph Gaulin passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Sunday February 21, 2021, in his 72nd year, at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Shirley (nee DeFauw), of 42 years. Dear Father of Nicole (Jake), and Dan (Mandie). Proud Papa of Andrew, Amber, and Tiffany. Great Grandfather to Adrianna, and Lillian.  He will be remembered by his siblings Roger (Marcelle), Lise, Carolle (Gilles), and Michel (Carole).   Predeceased by his parents Armand (1999), and Ange-Aimee (1999), and by his brothers Jaques (1974), and Martial (1987).

Born January 2, 1950 in Sainte - Justine, Quebec, Réal worked most of his life in the bush logging and cutting firewood.  He was able to share many of those years working with his children. He would retire home after a hard day’s work to be greeted by his wife, children, and family pets.  He had a love of animals.  He leaves behind Peanut, his dog, who offered much affection and comfort.

In keeping with Réal’s wishes cremation has taken place. Burial at the St. Luke's Cemetery in Vienna will be at a later date.  The family would like to thank the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Palliative Care Staff for their exceptional care and comfort in Réal’s final weeks.  Memorial donations to the Children’s Health Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, a local Humane Society, or the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated.  Your messages of remembrance and condolence may be shared here at wareingcremation.ca

  • Hi Shirley, We here are all so sorry to hear of Real’s passing. First thing I said was, " I feel so bad for Shirley, i’m sure she’ll be beside herself!!!" Real worked so hard his whole life and this happens. He’s been through so much in a short period of time. As well, so have you! You did a great job in keeping him home for as long as you could and you should be very proud of yourself!!! You did what you could and you did the best you could do in helping Real. People can accuse and throw out accusations and criticize all they want but, no one knows what you been through and had to do to look after Real. Be proud of what you did and don’t worry about what the negative people say. Be proud and feel proud of yourself, you deserve it and never forget what you did to help him!!! No one else was there to help you really take care of Real. You are a great person and great friend and don’t let anyone ever make you feel less than what you truly are!! Love you dearly, you stay strong and stay safe! Oh and don’t you forget about our chicken wing lunch date when we can get out!!! :)) Love you Shirley, lots of people do, never forget that!! Big Hugs
