I remember them all as I will remember “Frenchie” ,especially when attending the Chuckwagon . R.I.P. Real . Don (Lightning) Gaudier

  • Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Frenchie was such a special man to anyone who had the good fortune to have worked with him. Even luckier, were those of us who were taken into his inner circle at Laidlaw. I consider myself lucky to be one of the people he would visit when he was in the office. Whether he was asking for information or sharing a funny story, he always asked about my family and then talked about all of you. He was a true trucking legend who loved what he did, but loved his family and his grandchildren to the moon and back. He forgot more than most truck drivers will ever know and always had a mischievous grin as he spoke. I have so many great memories but will share our last brief but typical encounter. It was this fall and he drove his dump truck past my house. I had my back to the street so he blew the air horn. I jumped about 4 ft in the air. He was laughing so hard that he had to stop the truck to gain his composure. I had no way of knowing that it was our last wave. I can’t think of a better send off.
