Nicholas Michael Steven Shier
It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Nicholas, aged 37, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family and friends on Tuesday October 20, 2020, after living with colon cancer for 14 months.
Beloved husband to Jessica Maurice, loving brother to Alex (Ashley) Shier, sadly predeceased by his mother Karen McGaw (Jay VanKuik), cherished grandson to Carolyn and Les McGaw, loving uncle to Ali, Archer and Alivia. He will be sadly missed by his parents-in-law Fran Maurice and Richard Beaulieu, brother-in-law Justin Beaulieu, uncle Steve McGaw (Zack, Jessica, Lucas), aunts Eileen Williams, Rosemary (Keith) Force and their families. He treasured the time spent with his life-long friends.
Nicholas graduated from IDCI and Niagara College in computer programming. He worked at Rockstar Games for many years and later owned and operated Gameopolis, a popular business along with his wife in Hamilton, ON. He was passionate about brewing beer, cycling, video and board gaming, photography and fashion. He was creative, loving, loyal and full of laughter. He was a leader and lived his life to the beat of his own drum.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held in Spring/Summer 2021. In lieu of flowers, we would like to encourage those with the means to donate in his honour to Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion (HCCI). We are so very sad and still missing “our Boy”. So very sad for you too Jess, we will miss all his smiles, chuckles and hearty laugh, but so proud of what you both have accomplished.

Deepest condolences to the family and friends of Nick. I grew up going to school with Nick. He was always such a kind and fun guy! He will always be missed and remembered by many.
