In remembrance of a loving, caring Mother, Grandmother and Friend, Marjorie Ann Vannatter, (nee Meharg) of Tillsonburg, Ontario passed away peacefully on June 6, 2023 in her 86th year with family at her side at Sakura House.
Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Donald Vannatter (1983), and predeceased by her second husband Germain Seghers (2004).
Caring Mother of Dixie (David) Balcomb, Rosemary Vannatter (Ken Sherwood), and Dawn Vannatter. Grandmother of Jason (Roxanne) Balcomb, Shane (MacKenzie) Balcomb, Trisha Lang (Chris Underhill), Travis (Samantha) Lang, Kristen Lang, Charely Kielly, Jessika Kielly (Richard Barnim), and Cody (Kaitlyn) Kielly. Great Grandmother of six great grandsons and four great granddaughters. Loved by her sister and brother-in-law Airbelle and Don Hutchison, and sister-in-law Diane Meharg. Undoubtably remembered and missed by the Vannatter and Meharg Families and her many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Charles and Olive Meharg, her brothers Jack (Phyllis) Meharg, Allen "Popeye" Meharg, Jim Meharg, and sister Alice (Don) Marshal.
Marjorie enjoyed many years on the farm and in later years enjoyed her home overlooking Lake Lisgar. Music had always been a huge part of Mom's life, enjoying her jams and dances, but mostly the people.
She touched so many people's lives and was always there to lend a helping hand - that's who she was.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations to VON Sakura House in Woodstock, Ontario are appreciated. A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday September 9, 2023 from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Straffordville Community Centre.
The family would like to express special thanks to all members of the Care Partners Palliative Care Team for their loving care of our Mom, and Pastor Ted Smith of Cultus United Church for assisting Mom (Marjorie) throughout her final journey. Our special thanks to Jessika Kielly (grandaughter) who wanted to be there for Gramma in her final days and to Karen Hutchison (niece) for singing many songs to Mom on her back deck. Your kindness has deeply touched our hearts. We will never forget what you all have done for us. A special thanks to Mom's adopted Daughter, Judy Winter (caregiver) for her excellent care and companionship to Mom.

  • Everyone should be so fortunate to have an incredible role model like my grandmother. She was a shining example of love and integrity for our family. Her strength lives on in me and the rest of our family.
When I reflect on all that my grandmother overcame in her life, I am awestruck by her unwavering love and strength. Being her grandchild is the greatest honor of my life. I am proud to call her grandma.
1am so thankful to have been born on the same day as her.
She always said I was her little angel. My Grandma was never wrong about anything.
But she was wrong about that. It was the other way around; and she has and always will, forever be mine.
Fly high and free with the angels Grandma, Love your biggest fan

  • Marjorie was one of the finest human beings that I was fortunate to know. I was her and Dons neighbour when they were on the farm. Years later after Dons passing. She met and married another wonderful man. Her children and grandchildren were her world as were her many friends. To know her was to love her. Rest In Peace wonderful lady
