Margaret Berke
Mary Margaret Berke passed away on Sunday May 28, 2023 at the age of 92 at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, formerly of Walsingham, Tillsonburg, and most recently of Caressant Care Courtland.
Margaret was a devoted wife to Joe ‘Blackie’ until his passing in 1988. Loving Mother of two daughters, Linda Berke of Wyecombe, and Nancy (Danny) Vanacker of Andy’s Corners. Proud Grandma of DJ Vanacker and Marc Vanacker, and great Grandma “GG” of Lucas Vanacker.
Margaret was strong, feisty, and opinionated, as many can attest to.

She was an excellent seamstress making many of her girls’ clothes when they were young. Over the years she spent many hours cooking and baking for her family and for countless harvest gangs while growing tobacco with her husband, and in her spare time she could be found making homemade noodles, sausage, and barbeque sauce. Margaret travelled on several bus trips with friends, and she enjoyed going to bingo.
Margaret’s family has a special ‘Thank You’ for Dr. D. Dockx for his years of care; to the Staff at Caressant Care Courtland; to all of the Nurses on 2 South at TDMH for their compassionate care during her final days.
In keeping with her instruction’s cremation has taken place and there will be no visitations or funeral service. Inurnment will be at a later date with only her immediate family.
