Manfred Baasner

Manfred Heinrich Wilhelm Baasner of Woodstock, Ontario passed away peacefully on April 10, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Manfred was born on December 1, 1941 in Berlin, Germany.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 60 years, Dagmar (Raschke). Manfred was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind his sons Thomas (Vivian Kok), and Frank (Paula), and daughter Christine Hoffzimmer (Dirk, predeceased). He was a devoted Opa to his only grandchild, Katarina.
Manfred became a journeyman pipe fitter while still in his teens, and then immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1962, only months after the Berlin Wall was put up. He worked for Almatex Paint & Varnish Co. on London, Ontario for 40 years, building a happy life for himself and his family, and embracing life as a Canadian citizen. Manfred loved spending time with his family, camping, building, woodworking, traveling, watching hockey and baseball games with his sons, reading, and watching documentaries. He was a great role model to all those around him.
A private family interment and Service will be held at a later date. Wareing Cremation Services, 225 Norwich Avenue, Woodstock, Ontario has been entrusted with final arrangements. Your messages of remembrance and condolence may be shared here at wareingcremation.ca
