David John Labadie
David John “Chico” Labadie passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday March 23,2022 at the Woodstock Hospital.
Beloved Husband of Marie (Kerr), dear and truly loved Father of Krystina (David) Simpson, Sean (Michelle) Labadie and Tyler (Billie) Labadie. Chico will be missed by his brother Garry (Nancy) Labadie, nieces Angela Kerr, Jessica (Bryce) Cumming, nephews Alan (Tessa) Kerr, Bryan Labadie, his 7 grandchildren, great nephews, great niece, aunts, uncles, many cousins and dear friends. Chico is predeceased by his parents Joe and Kathleen “Kay” (Mazan) Labadie, Mother-in-Law Rosemary Kerr, and Brother-in-law Thomas Kerr.
Chico was born and raised in Chatham where he grew up very involved in sports. He was an amazing baseball player, well known for his many championships, awards and abilities on the field and at bat. He excelled in many racquet sports always teaming with or competing against his brother and he was also a master bowler (who could forget those lovely white master bowling shoes!!!). He worked for Bell Canada for many years, a job which he loved and took great pride in.
Chico was the #1 fan of his sons’ sports never missing a game or tournament and was a familiar face at the arena and the soccer pitch.
Chico was known for driving around Woodstock on his scooter acknowledging and talking to everyone, his daily ride for tea and a muffin or holding court in the garage with his pals Larry, Murray and Paul - thank you guys for always being there. Chico was loved and will be missed by so many for his sense of humour, love of life, many stories and adventures and just for being an all around great guy.
Woodstock Hospital CCU and Palliative Care units, Oxford EMS, Woodstock Police and Fire Departments - thank you all for taking such great care of Chico.
A celebration for Chico will be held Saturday April 2, 2022 at the Upper Thames Brewery, 9-225 Bysham Park Drive, Woodstock beginning at 7:30 pm.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations made to the MS Society are appreciated. Final Arrangements have been entrusted to Wareing Cremation Services, 225 Norwich Ave., Woodstock. Your messages of remembrance and condolence may be shared here at wareingcremation.ca

Marie and Family,
We are so sorry to hear of David’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family and everyone who knew David.
Ever wonder who gave him the nickname Chico, that was me, I was lucky enough to play ball with him and his brother who I used to call Guido. Dave was a great guy to play ball with, work with always smiling. RIP my friend you will be missed
I was very saddened to read of Dave’s passing. My brother Paul and I worked with him in the 70’s at H. Salt Fish and Chips when we were all in high school. I haven’t seen him in decades but I remeber he was always funny and really ambitious. R.I.P Dave and look for Paul up there!
Marie & family,
I’m sorry for the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. Although I never had the privilege of meeting Dave, I’ve heard only good things about him from my brother-in-law Larry.
Praying for peace to bring you comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to hold forever in your hearts. Lifting you and your family in prayer during this difficult time and in the days to come.

To Marie, Kystina, Sean and Tyler:
Al and Cheryl Tupper want to express our sincere sympathy to you and your extended family on the passing of your husband and father, David “Chico” Labadie. “Chico” and Marie have been neighbours our ours in Woodstock for 35+ years. I have fond memories of talking about minor hockey at the arena in between his boys’ games and my boys’ games. Upon retirement, I would routinely see “Chico” going out for his tea and muffin and he would always have a comment on hockey or baseball or life in general and I always enjoyed our conversations as he would add his great sense of humour to the discussion. Dave will be missed and remembered as a good neighbour and friend.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Every time we met with Dave, he always had a big smile and a fun loving laugh. He will be missed.
May God bless you all. 🙏
Thinking of you all – deepest sympathy. Dave will also be part of our memories.
