Charles 'Chuck' Hogarth

A lifelong resident of Tillsonburg, Charles Thomas ‘Chuck’ Hogarth passed away at the age of 78 at Sakura House, on January 30, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends.
Chuck is survived by three sons, Bradley, Andrew, and Brent (Richelle), and grandchildren, Faith, Trista, and Evan.
He was the son of Bill and Paula Hogarth, the younger brother of Lil Neale and Bruce and Peg Hogarth, and an older ‘brother’ to cousins Carol (David) Heath, the late Susan Shibley, and Liz (John) Simpson. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A ‘people person’ who enjoyed visiting and sharing stories, Chuck was a natural fit for the insurance business where he spent most of his career. In his spare time, he loved being out on the golf course or hanging out with friends. Chuck’s dry wit ensured that there was never a dull moment when he was present.
There are no words to sufficiently express the family’s gratitude to Shelley and Marc Anderson for the loving care that they gave Chuck in his final months other than, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thank you also to the staff of Sakura House for their special care and kindness. To demonstrate that appreciation, the family requests that you consider a memorial donation to Sakura House Hospice, 715180 Oxford Rd.4, Woodstock, Ontario, N4S 7V9.
Following Chuck’s wishes, cremation has taken place and private arrangements have been made.

  • Chuck was a dear friend of my Dad Albert, and our family. He was kind, generous, funny, and always brought sunshine into the lives of others. I babysat for him and Elaine long ago and he always made sure I was home safely, May angels speed him to his rest, and my deepest condolences to his family and friends.

  • Our condolences to Charlie’s family. Oh the stories we could tell! Remembering all the fun times and memories with Charlie (early years that’s what we called him). I (Bonnie) grew up with Charlie,we lived in the same neighborhood and a neighbour group of us spent hours together after school and evenings talking, playing games and sometimes mischievous actions. In high school more friends to hang with and that’s when Bill became friends with him and we started sharing fun times as couples. Proms, trips to beach, evenings at the drive in movies. Party was the favourite word and we had lots of them. Charlie was the life of the party. I’m sure he will now be partying with his old friends, Bill Gilbert, Doug Boyle, al Haycock, Harry Lipsit. “Thanks for all the memories Charlie”

    I am
    Bert Abbotts oldest daughter Mary-Ellen.
Dad had a real soft spot for Chuck, and chuck for dad. Chuck often brought dad and mom fresh perch form Pt. Burwell, and even stayed and cooked it for them sometimes. He had a kind heart, which he shared with Dad.
