The funeral service will take place on Friday May 26, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s United Church 5 Queen Street North, Aylmer, Ontario. Interment immediately following at the Calton Cemetery 6964 Richmond Road, Aylmer, Ontario.

Cheryl Ann James (nee Armstrong)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cheryl Ann James, of Calton, on Sunday May 21, 2017 in her 61st year.  Cheryl passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and loved ones into the arms of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

She will be greatly missed by the love of her life, husband Roger Wayne James, daughter Heather (Jason Opperman), son Lorne (Sarah) and granddaughter Izzabelle.  She will be greatly missed by her sisters Jane Forsythe, Hanna Armstrong-Anthony (Reginald) and Shelly Fletcher (Stewart).  Cheryl will be missed by many nieces and nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by her parents George and Leah Armstrong of Langton/Tillsonburg, sister Georgina, infant brother Dennis, brother-in-law Wally, and infant son Matthew.

Cheryl grew up on the family tobacco farm in Langton and later moved to Tillsonburg.  She met Roger in 1972 and they were married in 1977.  Cheryl and Roger just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on May 7, 2017.  Cheryl was actively involved in the community from Calton Hall, Calton Cemetery, a member of St. Paul’s United Church, Neighbourhood Watch, Bayham 911 and Road naming programs.  She had also been a 4-H leader for many years.  Cheryl worked in agriculture and for different government agencies and Elections Canada through the years.  In her later years, Cheryl and Roger opened a business selling model trains and hobby supplies all over Canada and the world.  She will be missed by the many customers she has serviced through the years.  Cheryl’s determination to fight breast cancer for the last 4 years demonstrated her faith, strength, endurance and love for her family.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society – Wheels of Hope and the VON Elgin-Middlesex may be made directly or through Wareing Cremation Services, Tillsonburg, Ontario 519-409-5575.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, personal support workers and care team for their excellent care of Cheryl.
